Six Flags, Knott's Berry Farm, and Great America Ticket Fee Settlement: How to Get Your $8 in Cash
Last updated: July 29, 2026
Status: The proposed settlement is awaiting preliminary approval from the Los Angeles County Superior Court. No claim deadlines have been set yet. Bookmark this page — we will update it when the court acts.
If you bought day tickets online to Knott's Berry Farm, Knott's Soak City, or California's Great America between June 28, 2020, and July 1, 2024, using a California billing address, you may be entitled to an $8 payment under a proposed class action settlement with Cedar Fair and Six Flags.
Here is the most important thing to know:
If you do nothing, you will receive your $8 as a credit toward a future Six Flags purchase. If you want $8 in cash instead—sent by PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, virtual prepaid card, or check—you must submit a short claim form after the court approves the settlement and notice goes out.
This page explains the proposed settlement, where it stands in the court approval process, and exactly how to claim cash.
What the lawsuit is about
The class action, Isayan v. Cedar Fair, L.P., Case No. 24STCV16212 (Los Angeles County Superior Court), alleges that Cedar Fair and Six Flags violated California law by adding a processing fee—what the lawsuit describes as an inadequately disclosed junk fee—to online purchases of non-season tickets at www.knotts.com and www.cagreatamerica.com.
Six Flags denies the allegations, denies any wrongdoing, and contends it complied with all applicable laws. The court has not decided who is right. Instead, after two full-day mediation sessions before a retired judge, the parties agreed to a settlement, which is now before the court for approval.
Warren Terzian LLP represents the plaintiff and the proposed class, and is asking the court to appoint it as Class Counsel.
Who is included in the settlement
You are part of the proposed settlement class if all of the following are true:
You purchased non-season tickets (for example, single-visit day tickets—not season passes) to Knott's Berry Farm or Knott's Soak City at www.knotts.com, or to California's Great America at www.cagreatamerica.com;
Your purchase was made between June 28, 2020, and July 1, 2024;
You entered a California zip code as your billing address during checkout; and
You were charged a processing fee.
Based on Six Flags' sales records, roughly 1.4 million people qualify, and the total value of the benefits to be distributed directly to the class is approximately $11.2 million.
What you get: an $8 credit automatically — or $8 cash if you file a claim
Every class member who stays in the settlement receives $8. The only question is the form of the $8:
Option 1 — Do nothing → $8 Six Flags credit. You do not have to fill out anything. The credit would be delivered by email and can be used toward any future paid purchase on www.sixflags.com for use at any of Six Flags' parks in the 48 continental United States. The credit is freely transferable (you can give it to someone else), can be combined with any other discount or offer, has no blackout dates, is good for a single order, and expires 36 months after it is issued.
Option 2 — File a claim → $8 cash. If you would rather have cash, you must submit a timely claim form. You can choose to be paid by virtual prepaid card, PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, or a mailed check. Filing a claim is free and takes only a few minutes.
How to get the cash: step by step
Wait for court approval. The settlement cannot take effect, and no claims can be filed, until the court grants preliminary approval. We will update this page the moment that happens.
Watch your email inbox for an email from the settlement administrator, Angeion Group. If the court approves the settlement, Angeion will email official notice to the address you used to buy your tickets. That email will contain your Notice ID — you will need it to file a claim. (If you believe you qualify but never receive a notice, you can contact Angeion; contact details will be posted here and on the official settlement website.)
Open the claim form. The notice will link to the official settlement website, where you can submit the claim form online. You can also print and mail a paper claim form if you prefer.
Choose how you want your cash. Select virtual prepaid card, PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, or physical check, and provide the corresponding email address or phone number.
Submit before the deadline. The deadline will be 60 days after Angeion emails the notice. (If your first notice email bounced and Angeion re-sends it, your deadline is 60 days after the re-sent email.) Deadlines will be posted on this page once they are set.
That's it. No receipts are required if you receive a notice — the class list is built from Six Flags' own sales records. The information you submit is used solely to administer the settlement and will not be sold or given to third parties for marketing.
Expected timeline
Court schedules can change, but under the settlement agreement the sequence works like this:
Now: The motion for preliminary approval is pending before the court.
If preliminary approval is granted: Angeion emails notice to class members within about five weeks.
Claim window: Class members then have 60 days from the notice email to file a cash claim (or to opt out or object).
Final approval hearing: Roughly five and a half to six months after preliminary approval, the court holds a final approval hearing.
Payment: If the court grants final approval and the judgment becomes final (including resolution of any appeals), cash payments and credits are to be delivered within 45 days after the settlement's effective date.
Is the settlement email real?
Yes—once the court approves notice, the email from Angeion Group about Isayan v. Cedar Fair, L.P., Case No. 24STCV16212, is a genuine court-authorized notice, not junk mail or a scam. You can verify it against this page, the official settlement website (link will be posted here), or the Los Angeles Superior Court's online case records for Case No. 24STCV16212.
The administrator will never ask you for a Social Security number, a bank password, or any payment to receive your benefit. Filing a claim is always free.
Frequently asked questions
How much will I receive? $8 per class member — as a credit automatically, or as cash if you file a timely, valid claim.
Do I need to hire a lawyer or pay anything? No. Class members do not pay anything to participate, and you do not need your own lawyer to receive the credit or the cash.
Who pays the attorneys and the administrator? Six Flags has agreed to pay—separately, and subject to court approval—attorneys' fees and litigation expenses (up to $1,962,329), a service award to the class representative who brought the case (up to $10,000), and settlement administration costs (up to $89,500). These payments do not reduce your $8.
What do I give up by participating? Class members who stay in the settlement release their claims against Six Flags relating to the processing fees covered by the case. The exact release language appears in the class notice and settlement agreement, which will be posted on the official settlement website.
Can I exclude myself or object? Yes. If you do not want to participate, you may opt out by sending a written request to the administrator within the same 60-day window; you will receive no payment but keep your right to pursue your own claim. Class members who stay in the settlement may also object to any aspect of it. The class notice explains both procedures in detail.
What if I choose a check and forget to cash it? Settlement checks are void 180 days after issuance. If your check expires uncashed, you will receive the $8 credit instead.
What if I bought tickets but never get a notice email? Contact the administrator, Angeion Group (contact information will be posted here and on the settlement website once notice issues). A Notice ID is required to submit the claim form.
Where can I read the settlement documents? Once the settlement website launches, it will host the settlement agreement, the court-approved notice, the claim form, and the key motions. You can also look up Case No. 24STCV16212 through the Los Angeles Superior Court's online case access portal.
